To send your friend money, all you need is his email address, if he does not have a PayPal Account, he will be required to open one in order to receive the money.

If you want to add your friend to your PayPal Account address book -

You can add, edit, and delete contacts from your PayPal address book within the Invoice Settings area of your PayPal account.
Here's how to access your PayPal address book:
1. Log in to your PayPal account.
2. Click Send & Request near the top of the page.
3. Click Create and manage invoices.
4. Hover over "Settings" dropdown and select Address Book.
5. Click the Edit or Delete links within a contact or Add a new contact to add a new one.
