paypal wants my SSN?

Is it ok to give paypal my SSN? i have been using my account for years now and all of the sudden they don't believe it's me and want my SSN.  My spouse is very suspicious.  But it says right their to give SSN.  i just never have done that before.

Hi,

PP will never disclose your information once you provide it to them. Such things are being required if we're wanting to do more things in the account. Make sure that you providing your SSN and other private information inside the app or the website. PP will never ask you those information outside like through emails, texts and calls.

Also, these type of process avoids limitations in the account that might hinder you in the future. 

Is it ok to ask what are you trying to do that suddenly asked you that information?
