bogus email language

I received an email ostensibly from paypal that a donation payment to my account was returned because "you asked to manually accept or refuse this type of payment." The payment shows up in my account as donated and refunded, but I never asked for this to happen. Perhaps the donor was able to rescind the donation after making it, but I was given this reason incorrectly. Perhaps a hacker has broken into the system with a fake email. Perhaps the language was addressed to the donor (who is bonafide from previous donations) and was reported also to me with improper grammar. Did paypal not have a correct report of what happened to this transaction? Am I missing something? Any ideas?
