Why Paypal Account used instead of Credit Card?

Normally all my purchases get charged to my Credit Card linked to my PayPal account.

However, a recent purchase on eBay of their Packlink courier service has got charged to my PayPal account so it was in debit as there's no money in the account. To pay it off I had to add my bank account which I didn't want to do, but had to and now my account is paid off.

Why wasn't the eBay item charged to my linked Credit Card?

If the ebay postage label is linked to a subscription then check the funding option next to it.

Click on the profile tab (icon next to log out) > Click on payments third option along on the thick blue band top of page > "manage pre-approved payments''.
