You can go to send or request money and you will see on tabs on top, navigate to contacts and you should see your username on the right under your profile picture like this "@username" it starts with "@". if you don't see this, go to www.paypal.me and create one the username you will use there it will be your username. Hope this helps you.
They weren't asking for a paypal.me link but their paypal email address and were asking if it was their primary one that they log in with, which it is.
