Unable to access funds

I had someone send me $100 via Paypal. The funds were sent to an alternate email address that I use. When I tried to set up an account using that email address, it said I already had one. This is possible, but I no longer have the password. During the verification process, it said they were going to text me a verification code. The phone number for text verification is not correct. I can't get a live person at PayPal and the response they are sending me has to do with spam, which is not the case here. So I have $100 legitimately waiting for me that I can't access. Not sure what to do.
