Text from PayPal saying password has expired

Received a text from PayPal (<removed>) saying "your password has expired, to continue using PayPal please rest your password and verify your details" with the following short link: <removed>

The link opens to this page:<removed>

When I logged into my PayPal account my password hadn't expired so not sure what this could mean!

Not sure if this is a phishing scam - seems weird it would come from the PayPal (<removed>) number...

Hi @Ricky1984

I am sorry you're concerned about an email you've received. If you think you’ve received a suspicious email or have been directed to a fake website, forward it to spoof@paypal.com and we’ll investigate it for you. After you send us the email, delete it from your inbox. If you clicked on any links or downloaded any attachments within the suspicious email or website, log into your account and view your transactions. It’s also a good idea to change your password.

You can refer to the Article, for more information.

Thank you

Punith

If its a spoof then NEVER USE ANY LINK.

Firstly if the email/text addressed you as ''Dear Member'' / ''Customer'' / ''Client'' OR your ''email address'' then that confirms its a spoof as paypal would address you by your full name eg Dear John Smith.

Secondly if there was a link OR attachment in that email/text to ''cancel'' any transaction or ''confirm'' any details then again it would be a spoof.

If there was a problem with your account Paypal would not ask you to click on an unsafe link in an email or by downloading an attachment, they would direct you to log in normally and go to the resolution or the message centre for more information.
