I do not own a cell phone, nor do i wish to. I have a land line phone. I use to be able to click pass adding a mobile number to access my account. But now I am locked out unless i enter a phone number. I tried to enter my land line number, and it doesnt support it.
SOOoooo em i to believe im no longer allowed access or to have an account because i choose not to do the cell phone thing? Whats next i need to own a game console too? drive a certain car?
Agreed. Absolutely ridiculous. I cannot access my account anymore either because I don't have a cell phone too. Even if I did, I would never give it to PayPal anyway. Whoever was in charge of this decision needs to be fired.
If I can't login to make payments on my paypal credit account due to this login issue, how am I supposed to be responsible for it? Am I supposed to go out and buy a cell phone just so I can log in here? The absence of logic here is astounding.
Got off the phone with Customer Service a moment ago.
Confirmed, mobile phones are now the standard and required to sign up and continue use of your account. 12 years i have used this service and without notice...not even a " hey you have 30 days to get your affairs in order and get out " ...nope just BAM. Shut the doors and lock us out. So much for sitting down to manage my finances for the month...left holding the bills and people waiting for their money.
Supposedly an account specialist will call me on my home phone "soon" to see if they can help me.
I fail to see the logic in this decision by paypal in so many ways...hope this gets resolved...12 years...sigh...

This could be the reason they locked my account for 72 hours. I only give my land line number. Will the account stay locked ? hmm. Used Paypal for 15 years until yesterday - We're sorry, we couldn't confirm it's you.
I put in my mobile/cell number and it said it was an invalid number. I'm hoping to contact PayPal tomorrow via landline. I honestly don't understand what is going on. Why is this happening now?
Has anyone found a solution that isnt going to buy a cell phone?

11th day...still locked out...do i have to contact a lawyer?
Money via subscriptions is coming out of my account...i have no way to manage this without cancelling my cards, and trying to undo 12 years of banking thru paypal to stop/fix this account from auto banking.
I'm in a similar situation and can't get access without linking a cellphone. I can't even gain access to close the account.
If you are not going to add a mobile phone to your account then its unlikely you will be able to continue using Paypal, so maybe consider closing your account?
