One reesponse from Messenger help desk and then nothing

I have now on multiple occasions attempted to "Chat" with an agent.

All I get is Hi, I am who ever I'd be pleased to help... etc.

Even some recommendations, and if you do so and so we'd do what you need.

But type to keep the window open, stop the window from timing out at least twice, and no return of the agent. So no resolution.

I need to change my phone number before the new security protocols kick in, but as it is an overseas number and they will only allow numerals in the phone number panel, I have put it exactly as it could be used ie without the + sign in front. But this number is not acceptable to the site? And I can't get past the first agent to find an answer.
