Phone number changed - can't log in

My mobile number changed a few years ago but I never updated my profile. 

Now I can't log in as Paypal wants to send me a text on the old number to verify the account.

I've tried logging in from a different browser which doesn't work.

Also tried using the Help Chat system, but this also requires me to log in to proceed.

Tried ringing the help support number but spent ages going round and round in circles with the automated options, could not get to a point of speaking to an actual person.

Funny thing is, when I selected 'Ask the Community' to access this forum, it allowed me to log in to create this profile to do this!

Really stuck as to how to resolve. Would really appreciate if anyone can offer some help with this please?

I recently changed my phone number but to log-on and change it I need sms or a phone call using my old phone number which I do not have. what can I do to change this.

You would need to contact customer services so that they can i.d. you another way and then add your new phone number to your account.

Paypal phones are mostly non operational since covid but sometimes you get lucky. (use the guest option if you can't log in).
If there is one available it will show when you click help / contact bottom left of Paypal pages for options available in your country.
Live chat is randomly available.
You can send them a message.
Or have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a personal message from their facebook or twitter pages.

This is happening to me, did you get a response from PayPal? Unsure how to find a number to call them?

Have other options since i posted that but as you prefer contacting c.s. then.....

Contact options for Paypal are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages...

1. Paypal phones are slowly re-opening and increasing in numbers (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out.

I'm trying to log in to change the phone number on my account. But to log in I have to receive a text or call as part of their 'PSD2 Strong Customer Authentication' thing. I can't receive this as my old phone number has long gone (hence the need to change the phone number on my account!). 

The website won't even reveal the company's contact details or chat option without me completing the PSD2 thing.

Can anyone help please? Thanks.

I had the same problem this worked for me. enter email then click on having trouble logging in I went with confirm email and changed password that didn't let me back on so I tried the same thing again but this time with confirm bank card which worked. not sure if it was a combination of doing both or if it was just doing confirm bank card. I quickly updated my phone number and everything is back to normal hopefully this will work for you . good luck

Doesn't work for me but thanks for posting. Same problem. Tried everything every which way. Even the UK contact number doesn't work. Anyone have a number for them I can try please?
