Money not claimed

I sent money to my grandson’s email.  He was unable to withdraw it and I never received a refund.  Did the money just disappear?  What a money-making scam.

Hi @Bb94

When you login to www.paypal.com is the transaction showing as "Completed" or "Refunded".

Completed payments mean the money is still in your grandson's account. If he tried to withdraw the money but then it failed, the money does not get sent back to you. It has to be initiated by your grandson as well.

Refunded payments mean that your grandson has clicked on refund from his side. It may take a number of business days before the funds may appear in your bank or card account.

Hope this helps!

Kudos and Solved are highly appreciated.

It just says Money Sent.  He's my 12-year-old grandson, so I know he never got it.  I was trying out his new account, never realizing he was too young to have an account.

Hi @Bb94

That's true. The person who owns the account must be at least 18 years of age.

If you can be with your grandson, login to his account using www.paypal.com (browser) and not the app. I suggest that you refund the payment so it will be returned to you. PayPal may restrict the account for having an underage account owner.

I tried that, but he'd have to choose another payment option, which is not possible for a 12-year-old.  I'll have to wait and see what happens.  Thanks anyway.
