I made the same mistake. Call them to connect to India and update your number and delete old number. Good luck! I still get my old number when I try to login to my main account.
I found the solution, actually, you need to use the app on your and update your phone number, and as well discovered that the tel. number was right but with a different country code.
in your profile to change the number, you will be asked to add a number first and then you can change it.
