How to stop Facebook notifications when can't see Messenger section on Notifications page?

I found a solution to stop Facebook notifications, but it didn't work for me.

When I go into PayPal settings, the Notifications settings screen doesn't show a Messenger section (it only shows Payments and Marketing Preferences sections).  So I don't see a checkbox.  So how do I see the checkbox so I can uncheck it?

It happens. Hit the "Login to Ask the community" button to create a question for the PayPal community.
