Adding a US mobile phone number to a german account

Hello to all

I recently received my PayPal prepaid debit card while I am visiting the states, when I tried to link it to my account through my laptop/Pay Pal site I received the message we can not currently process your request. After trying a couple of times I gave up, when I tried to do the same thing through the app on my mobile phone it wanted to send me a message or a call to my primary phone number which is a German one, now I tried to change my primary phone  number to the mobile phone number that I have in the States but it gives me the error message wrong number cause it expects a German mobile number I suppose. Is there any solution to this like receiving the message to my primary email?

Paypal is country specific so if you have to open a paypal account in the country you reside in and add an address / phone number / bank accounts / cards from within that country.

Thanks for the reply pay pal update on my phone fixed the problem. So I was able to add my cell phone i have in the states. Now I just have to call the german customer support to verify it is me.
