2nd, non-linked email account

I have 2 email accounts which only I have access to. A payment was sent to the one which is not linked to my PayPal account and I cannot set up the non-linked email account with PayPal.  (I get a message that someone else is already using it - which is impossible!)

I'm sorry to hear that an account has been created using your email address without your permission. In these types of situations, we cannot verify who is the owner of an email address. It may have been the case that someone mistyped your email address when trying to create a PayPal account.

 

What we can do in these scenarios is forward the information to the relevant teams to be reviewed. They can then prevent the email address from being used until it has been verified on our side. When the owner of the account realises this, they will need to add a valid email address and verify it. Then your email address will be reset.

 

In order for us to do this, you would need to reach out to us directly so that we can look into this further for you. This can be done by clicking the 'Help & Contact' icon at the bottom of any PayPal webpage. From here, you can then click the 'Call Us' option. If no number shows on the next page, please click the 'Call as a guest' option to be provided with the best number to call us on.

 

I realise that this may not be the most ideal situation but as we are unable to verify who owns an individual email address, this is our only option. Thanks for letting us know.
