Need to update phone number & can't.

The problem is, I can't login without confirmation some  PSD2  nonsense, & the only options are call or text the outdated NOT WORKING phone number.

I can't contact support, they demand I login.

I can't message, they demand I login.

I can't access the resolution centre, they demand I login.

There are no direct phone or email contacts for PayPal.

How do I resolve this catch 22?

Try:

1. Downloading the app to see if it will let you in to change / update it in the settings.

2. Use the forgotten password option several times.

3. Trying another browser that may let you in without phone verification (then change it when you have logged in).

4. Trying again another day when sometimes you can get in without doing the verification and then change the number.

5. Changing the password a few times sometimes works as it can bypass the phone verification.

If that does not work then you would need to contact customer services so that they can i.d. you another way and then add your new phone number to your account.

Contact options for Paypal are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages...

1. Paypal phones are slowly re-opening and increasing in numbers (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out.
Or
4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a personal message from their Facebook or Twitter pages.

Much of this I'd already done, however

1. The app is a non-starter, my phone is a Sony Erricsson Z600 (google it if needed) apps it doesn't do.

2. Did that.

4. Did that.

5. Did that.

2. Requires login.

3. Requires Login.

4. I'm not on either platform.

However, trying all of my 5 browsers in turn, finally let me in using of all things Opera.

Altogether a truly frustrating day.

Many many people are still PSD2-locked out of their Paypal accounts for months now due to ->no possibility at all<- to contact Paypal about updating their new phone(-nr,.). This matter isn't solved at all. FY-all can't be contacted in any way by phone or otherwise. Very disappointing.

Well, if you really want a solution, PayPal have registered offices inside the EU to which you can write an old fashioned letter.

Simply state they hold incorrect information (old phone number) & demand they correct it under the provisions of the GDPR.

I suggest registered post, so someone has to sign, if that fails, repeat the letter, second time from your solicitor & threatening legal action.

This was going to be my ultimate strategy, except that I've managed for now to solve the issue using one of the methods listed in the first reply.
