When are PayPal fees charged to my account?

I would like to know when the 2.9% + .30 is charged and on what total. For instance, if my product costs $100 with $10 tax plus $15 shipping, is PayPal charging a fee based on $125 (product cost + tax + shipping), or on $110 (product cost + tax), or just on product cost?
If fee is for tax, are those of us charging state tax losing out by having to pay more (charge our customers more) to make up for the increased PayPal fee? And how can PayPal charge a fee based on shipping?

Hello Xochitl,
Welcome to the Forums.
The fee is based on the total payment that is received, payment + shipping + taxes. PayPal would charge the fee based on $125 (product cost + tax + shipping) - 2.9% + .30. I hope this helps.
