Error in credit card number

I wrote down an 16 digit American Express credit card number to charge for a purchase. There should only be 15 digits. Is there anyway I can find out which number should not be included. Lost the phone number so I can not contact the customer.  Is there hope or should I consider this a learning experience.

Welcome to the Forums.

The only way to get the full - correct credit card number would be to contact the card holder to find out. I am sorry there just is not another way to get the number.
