The way the code was inserted into your web page is your issue.
The code should look like this:
<form action="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name="cmd" value="_s-xclick"> <input type="hidden" name="hosted_button_id" value="10887612"> <input type="image" src="https://www.paypal.com/en_US/i/btn/btn_donateCC_LG.gif" border="0" name="I1" alt="PayPal - The safer, easier way to pay online!" width="122" height="47"> <img alt="" border="0" src="https://www.paypal.com/en_US/i/scr/pixel.gif" width="1" height="1"> </form>
Compare this to what you posted.
Note, the PayPal item button code is a basic HTML Form, you also have an input Form on your web page. Be sure not to nest your Forms or place one Form inside of another Form. They must be separate, else one will fail.

momma4,
Unfortunately we can't help unless we see the web page that has item button code. When you post a request for help, you need to provide URL to the web page that has the code so we can test it.

Hello - If you are like me you are very frustrated and am unhappy that PayPal does not fix this problem, I found the same thing happening to me and I contacted several people to test my donate button. It worked fine for those that did not use Internet Explorer as their browser. Firefox worked great, At my own house it worked on my computer but not my wifes netbook, As soon as I installed Firefox on the netbook the donate buttom worked fine! What is the heck wrong with PayPal. That is UNACCEPTABLE! It has been a known problem for years. Fix IT !

I tried clicking the link provided regarding the donate button not directing to the page where credit card info can be entered (instead the page justs asks for login info or to create an acct), but the link provided doesn't work. Can you please double-check and repost the link, or else provide the answer?
thanks!

Hi, My donate paypal button was setup and now there's a break in the process (website went down and I havent been able to use PayPal donation on site since January). When the donate button is clicked it takes you to a page that says "RETURN TO MERCHANT We cannot process this transaction because there is a problem with the PayPal email address supplied by the seller. Please contact the seller to resolve the problem. If this payment is for an eBay listing, you can contact the seller via the "Ask Seller a Question" link on the listing page. When you have the correct email address, payment can be made at www.paypal.com.
I have tried to correct and have been reading how to's tho Im not resolving the issue. Can anyone help? My website is ThatsSoGayLIVE.com. My PayPal is also ThatsSoGayLIVE. Thank you
I utilize wordpress (ondemand75) template and I have a widget for the paypal donation button and it shows up on my page. The link does not take the donator to a donation page to donate. Thank you
