Payment issues with Express Checkout on Shopify website

I have been facing problems on my PayPal account and the India team doesn't have any solution. I have an ecommerce website on shopify and the default currency is USD.  When I'm trying to make a payment from India, my payment isn't getting processed and I'm unable to make the payment. This has been happening with my clients in the other countries too, like Italy. I have used my card for international transactions in Canadian Dollars, Australian Dollars, GBP, Euro etc, never have I faced a problem with it but I don't understand why PayPal isn't accepting my Indian card or any other card other than that of the US. It doesn't make sense. The PayPal team says that because my website currency is passed in USD, my card is getting declined since it's a card which has the local currency. In order to process the payment, my website needs to pass the currency country wise i.e if it's India then Indian Rupees should be the checkout currency and only then will the customer be able to process the payment. Which is absolutely ridiculous. How can such a big company like PayPal not process a payment just because the checkout currency is different from that of a card???? I've made several payments internationally with my Indian card and haven't ever faced these stupid issues!!!

It sounds like we need to look into the currency the card is saved to your PayPal account in. The community forum is for customer to customer help and wouldn’t be able to provide account specific details.

I'm having a similar issue in reverse. Cannot get any $ payments via shopify because store currency is set in INR. Although, separately if you request payments from customer on the same paypal outside of shopify, the money is happily received, accepted in any currency (well so far i've only received USD). 

Would love it if you could shed light on a solution if you manage to find one.
