Payment hold to a merchant

I have placed an order yesterday with a merchant and it is still pending why is this and when will it be released to them

Is it a "pending payment" or a "payment hold"?

If it's a pending payment, then it could be from an e-check that needs to clear. If that's the case you should see that status on your side.

If it's a payment hold, it could be for a number of reasons.  Most likely that the system wants them to provide tracking information, and then when it shows delivered (or you mark it received on your side) then it would release the funds.

This is for your protection, and the seller should proceed with the delivery as the payment is Completed, and will be released to them when it's delivered, or whenever any other hold on their account is satisfied.
