Payflow Recurrence Credit Card expired

Hi there,
I want to know in Recurring Billing for the subscription if the card is unable to charge due to any of the following reason:

1.) Credit card did not charge due to expiry dates of card 
2.) Credit card company rejected the payments.
3.) or any other reason that we did not receive payments from card 

Then what will happen to the user's subscription for recurrence? What will happen when the user updated his card details after few months of expired date. Is the subscription starts again, or he will be again charged for that.
