Custom email confirmation

I'm using Paypal buttons and would like to send a custom email confirmation with all orders, that include a link to a private web page, along with a private password

Is it even possible to customise email order confirmations and if so, how do I do this?

PayPal does have a feature called IPN or Instant Payment Notification which many developers use for doing what you have in mind.   You can learn more about what IPN can do here.    And there's also some helpful details here.
