Client unable to pay through "request payment" link - gets blank page

Hi

I have had three instances recently when clients have been unable to send through payment to me using the "payment request" link that I emailed to them.  They should be able to send payment using their credit card without having to set up a PayPal account.    However, when they click the link to make the payment, they get a blank, white screen.  Why is this? It has worked previously.  Further information - these clients are schools - they have no (and are unable to create a) PayPal account.
