Change Customer Recurring Payments failed billing attempts ?

Hi,

Recently, my Membership Website plugin - Paid Memberships Pro - changed their recurring payments options rules.

Previously my website would make 3 automatic attempts at "taking" my customers subscription $$ via paypal, then cancel their membership on the 4th failed attempt.

Now, Paid Memberships Pro cancels the subscription on the 1st attempt.

They have given me some code to implement for all NEW subscribers/Members - this is good.

However, the existing subscribers/Members have all reverted to immediately automatically cancelling on the first failed attempt - this is NOT good !

How can I ensure that my current and existing customers paypal accounts are attempted to be debited 3 times and then cancel of the 4th failed attempt ?

Can I edit this somewhere ?  Does this editing trigger an email to the customer ?

I do not wish to change the $$ amount - only the number of automatic attempts the monthly recurring subscription customers are attempted to be billed.

Thanks,

Matthew
