I've got a guy who claims to be military wanting to buy a vehicle I have listed on craigslist, send somebody else to pic it up and pay for it trough paypal. does sound right or should I back out?

There is no Seller Protection when receiving a PayPal payment for a vehicle. If there is an unauthorized transaction dispute from the funding source that bought your vehicle, you could lose both the funds received and the vehicle.
PayPal should be used only for a small deposit to hold a vehicle until the buyer shows up in person with cash.
