I am selling an item (500-1000 USD value range) but want to make sure the buyer has a PayPal Confirmed shipping address (in the U.S.) before they send me the payment so I am eligible for seller protection. Is there a way to check this ahead of time? The only online solution I found may have worked like 5 years ago but I tried it and it didn't work (adding a URL string to the browser address with the person's email address). Any ideas?

You can do all you want. Even selling a computer and send only the box of the computer. PayPal only protects sellers and if people go for the bad it is OK. Buyers, those ones are criminals.
