You won't know, its always a surprise. The only way to end your worries is to read the ins and outs of the seller protection program and decide whether PayPal is the appropriate payment method for your transaction. Payments can at a later date be reversed and you can be held liable.
But beware of scams:

Seller protection program information and how it works (it has its limitations and not all transactions are covered):

The buyer can't drain your account. They can only get recompensed once, can't double/multiple dip you to death.
Also read as your payment may be subject to PayPal 21 day funds availability hold:

TIPS: Always check your PayPal account itself for the payment before shipping goods, don't just believe email confirmations. If someone REALLY paid, you will see a record of payment even if the payment is on hold. Only give out your PayPal email address, do not give your name or name associated to the account as the sender will see if soon enough when they send payment.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
