Paypal Chargeback but never received Item?? HELP

So I sold an item on eBay for a large amount of money.... I spent over $800 to ship the item to them and another 200ish for insurance and pre packaging. They paid for the item and i shipped it out. I then get a chargeback from their credit insitution. What is my recourse? he never returned the item yet now i have a negative balance in my paypal account? I feel like im getting stolen from and need guidance? is there anything i can do?

A chargeback is not a paypal dispute its done directly via a buyers credit card issuer as they must have funded their paypal payment that way.

The card issuer makes all the decisions and not paypal. All paypal do is pass on any information on your behalf.

However you would not lose out either as long as you met ALL the requirements of seller protection, so your best bet is to go and read up on it to make sure you were covered.
