How to get my money from PayPal but need gift cards

So I sold a phone and got paid through PayPal the money is being held untill I get 400 dollars worth of gift cards and send them in. I don’t have 400 bucks to just pull out of no where and I need that money because I have 3 kids. What can I do 😭

I'm sorry to hear that it sounds like you have been the target of a scam. If you have received an email or other messaging instructing you to send someone gift cards in order to claim money, that is a scam and the email is not from PayPal. Typically, this means that there is no actual payment, just a fake email advising you of one. If you have the ability to cancel the shipment, please do so.
