Did I make a whoops? Anything I can do about it?

So I decided to book a room outside of a website for a vacation, I have done this before and everything has been fine, however, I booked this room and paid 2K for it and I sent it through the family and friends so they wouldn't have to pay the fee.  That's the way they requested it be sent. They said as soon as they received payment that they would email me the code. When I asked if they received payment they said they did and would email me the code "shortly". This person has great reviews on the website (I personally do not know this person) It's been 2 days since I sent the money, no response. I emailed them earlier and I am hoping they reply but I was wanting to check with the community to see if that money is just gone in case they decide not to reply. I have all the the email correspondence.
