A scammer via my friend's hacked facebook account asked me to take receipt of some money from them into my PayPal account and has asked me to send the same amount back to them via bank transfer.
How does this scam work? As it seems like the account used to send the money to me was from a compromised PayPal account. Would the scammer be able to claim the money back via filing a report with PayPal and then if I had actually sent them the cash back via bank transfer leaving me out of pocket.
Thankfully I caught onto it being a scam just after they sent the money to me as it seemed like an odd amount and also contacting my friend via other means to confirm what was going on.
