What is the process for changing the business account Primary Contact email?

I'm helping a US based non-profit that has a business account for accepting donations. They need to change the primary contact for their account. The system has allowed them to add an email address but not remove the previous email address. That person has left their organization and they want to remove that email address. Their account is suspended because that person cannot be validated any longer.
It is their understanding that the email in question is the key identifier of the business account which doesn't make sense since people come and go.
Please advise how they can be assisted with changing the primary contact of their business account.
