Long story, but bear with me...
I have had my account for 12 years. My personal checking account had been verified years ago, but I had to remove it recently (maybe a year or 2 ago) due to my account getting hacked and a couple hundred dollars was taken from my account. We managed to fix the issue and regain control of my account, but my bank account was unable to be reconnected to my PayPal again. However, my debit card for that account was able to be added so I was still able to make transactions between PayPal and my checking account.
Recently, I have sold some items using the invoice options through PayPal. The invoices have been paid and the items have been shipped, but I am unable to accept/claim the money. I receive a messaged telling me I need to verify my account in order to receive the payment. The help page says that to get verified I need to link a bank account or have/be approved for a PayPal credit card. I have a PayPal credit card already, so I tried to readd my personal bank account and received an error message that it could not be done at this time and to try again later. This is the same message I received when I tried to link it again after the hacking. I waited a bit and tried again and received the same message. I decided to call customer service (May 17th at 1309. The call lasted 48 minutes and 42 second) and they told me that it was a security hold. The tech attempted several different things to verify my account or release the hold (or so they told me) and came up empty. I asked to speak to someone who could help and they said they were placing me on hold for a supervisor. 24 minutes later I hung up and called back (May 17th at 1358. The call lasted for 19 minutes and 34 seconds). I explained the situation to the next tech and told them I needed to speak to a supervisor. After several attempts to reach a supervisor they requested that they have a supervisor call me when they were available. I honestly waited several hours for the phone call (Called received May 17th at 1611. Call lasted 12 minutes and 32 seconds). The supervisor sent me a text with a code to verify me identity, attempted a few things and then told me that due to security concerns that PayPal had blocked the addition of my checking account and that I needed to not touch anything for 48 hours and to call back in before trying again.
I did just that. 48 hours later (May 19th at 1801. Call lasted 24 minutes and 15 second), I called back in and explained everything to the next tech. They told me everything looked good on their end and to go ahead and proceed with adding my checking account. I had them hold on the line while I entered all of my information and received the same error message as before. The tech then told me that it often takes up to 72 hours before those security holds are lifted and to try again the next day.
I waited a few days to attempt to add my account again and I received the same error message. This is when I cleaned out all the old accounts in my wallet, removed cards that were expired, and them attempted to add my husbands checking account. I was able to log in and do the immediate verification. I went back to the most recent invoice payment and attempted to accept the payment. I received the same "get verified" message. I logged out and logged back in and tried again with a different invoice and received the same message. 16 hours later I tried again with the same result. So I called back into customer service (May 24th at 1241. Call lasted 15 minutes and 30 seconds). This tech tells me that every thing is correct on their side and I have been completely verified. I explain that I'm still receiving the "get verified" message when I try to accept a payment I've received and she basically calls me a liar. She says that everything is fine on their end and the payments are being received that I just need to click "accept" in the invoice and the money will be available for use. At this point I'm super irritated and tell her that I need her to stay on the line and I will do just that. I walk her through each step and each click. I click on "accept" and then read to her "You must be a Verified member to accept this payment. To accept this payment, please verify your account now. PayPal requires that accounts receiving payments from our PayPal Website Payments and Instant Purchase for Auctions features be Verified. This increases the security of the PayPal network and lowers your risk by completing one of the requirements of our Seller Protection Policy. You can also refuse this payment and continue to receive payments using other features. But to ensure that you can always receive payments - verify your account today!" Her response was that it may take up to 24 hours for PayPal to cycle through and for the checking account to get recognized and the verification to get completed. She asks me to wait that 24 hours and assures me that it will work just fine.
This has been going on for 10 days now. Here I am, 3 days later, and I'm still getting the same "get verified" message when I try to accept a payment. I will be calling PayPal in a couple hours when lines open, but I'm hoping that this community has an answer for me.
Question: I have tried everything to verify my account so that I can accept payments I have received and am still receiving the "get verified" message when I click "accept". Is there a trick, something I can ask the PayPal tech to try? What do I need to do to get this account verified and accept payments?
