Tech Support Refuses to Update Phone Number

This has been going on for months, and now feels like paypal has stolen my money.  My Paypal account has money in it that I want.  It's asking for an old phone number and won't let me add a new one.  Called tech support and they said they can't update the phone number, even though I confirmed my name, previous phone number, email and bank account number.  Have escalated to supervisors, they won't do anything.  So tired of this scam.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Hello @petecart,

Welcome to PayPal Community Forum and thank you for your post!

I'm sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with how your issue has been handled up to this point by the technical support and I understand your concern about updating the phone number on your account. Unfortunately, technical advisors won't be able to take any action on your account as they will not have an access. Please be informed that when you try to transact on your PayPal account, a code will be sent for the verification and authentication for security reasons. It is mandate to have registered phone number active. Since you are unable to update the phone number from your end, the only best options is to contact our customer support team through the available contact options on our website so that our advisors can help you accordingly. When you get through the answering machine and if its asked for a one-time pass code, you can say "I don't have one", or try to say agent to reach a live agent. Support is also available through Facebook private messages or Twitter direct messages.

Regards,
Ayesha
