TaxID hold not updating 3 days later

3 days ago I was sent an amount over $600USD. PayPal required TaxID. I did this, and was prompted with a screen that said it should take no longer than 15 minutes. This was 3 days ago. I still have a TaxID hold. I called PayPal and they elevated my case. Has anyone else ever had this issue? I would really like access to my funds and not have to wait forever or possibly never.

Same thing is happening to me, and it's been a week. They have all my tax paperwork, EIN, SSN, everything and they're still holding the funds. I'm going to try refunding the payment and having the payer send it another way. After that, I'm going to cancel my PayPal account because this is unacceptable.

You won't be able to refund the payment because its on hold. I've tried everything I can think of to refund the buyer. There's an option to cancel transaction, but it asks me to contact the buyer to cancel. When the buyer tries to cancel it asks him to contact me to cancel. It's a complete joke.

I’m going through the same thing. They keep claiming there’s a glitch in the system. I’m just getting angry. Completely unacceptable. They wouldn’t give the name of anyone to elevate the issue to either

They told me it’s an on-going issue they don’t have a fix too. I called PayPal support and the guy I spoke to said he elevated it to the back room support, whatever that means. How long have you been waiting on funds?

Thank you all for your posts. I'm so sorry that you're experiencing such a frustrating situation with Tax ID holds that will not clear. This issue is one that we're definitely working on as quickly as we can, and in the meanwhile, I can offer the potential workaround in this linked post. Having the exact same issue. They told me their "concern team" is working on it. 3-4 Days for me as well.

Same issue. It says “updating” and that it should only take 15 minutes. On day 4 of them holding all of my payment. Probably going to avoid using PayPal for payments now.

Exact same thing here. Was sent over $1000 a few days ago and it still hasn’t updated… has anyone had any updates yet?

I called yesterday and was told the same thing (known issue, working on it). Today I got off the phone today, and the rep told me that I should get an email about it within 5 business days. So ridiculous because that my rent money.
