Problem with confirming my email address

Hello, I'm having trouble confirming my email address. It just won't let me. WHenever I click on the button "confirm your email" it just takes me to the main dashboard wihout any confirmation. If I click on the link instead it takes me to "confirm my email" page but when I insert the password to confirm it it just says there's an error and to contact the customer support. I just want to confirm my new email and remove the old one.. Why is it such trouble to go through such a simple process?

If you are experiencing difficulties when attempting to access your PayPal account, please try clearing your cache and cookies or try using a different internet browser to access your account. If you are attempting to log in through the mobile app, please try uninstalling and reinstalling the app to see if this helps to resolve the issue. If the error still occurs, you will need to contact us by phone. You can obtain the phone number for your region by clicking Help at the bottom of the PayPal website.
