Phone number changed - can't log in

My mobile number changed a few years ago but I never updated my profile. 

Now I can't log in as Paypal wants to send me a text on the old number to verify the account.

I've tried logging in from a different browser which doesn't work.

Also tried using the Help Chat system, but this also requires me to log in to proceed.

Tried ringing the help support number but spent ages going round and round in circles with the automated options, could not get to a point of speaking to an actual person.

Funny thing is, when I selected 'Ask the Community' to access this forum, it allowed me to log in to create this profile to do this!

Really stuck as to how to resolve. Would really appreciate if anyone can offer some help with this please?

Hey there,

 

I haven't been using Paypal for a while. I have changed my phone number and now when I log in, paypal asks me to either call me or send a message to my old number. I can't use the number since it is given to a new employee in the company I worked for. 

 

What is the best solution now?

I need to change my phone number as I have 1 missing digit . When I try to contact paypal it’s asking me to login which i still cant as they need to verify that its me . When i try to call no number is going up . Ive been stuck for months tried resetting the password, downloaded the app but nothing I cant go into my profile .

I hate using these things I cant tell you how much.  for one hour now, wasting my time going to help, then again they want to send a message to my old phone number, 

I have tried all different ways, I have not forgetten my password.  I cant get into my account.  no dam phone to call pay pal.  keep going round and round in circles.  Please all I want to do is get into my account.  Nothing is working!!

 

Need a live help telephone help, not a dam computer please!!!

Whenever i try to login it says "for security reasons you need to change your password" and then when i try to click to reset the password it wants to send a verificafion code to my old phone number so i go to add my new phone number instead (even though ive added it to my account about 20 times or more) but when i try it says "this type of phone number is not valid" however when i call paypal from this exact number, it says that it matches their records. And even more recently it just says "we couldnt confirm its you" and gives me 0 options. if i try to reset my password by phone they send me an email to do so. When i follow the email instructions and "successfully" reset my password and attempt to sign in with the new password i still get the same error message that says "for security reasons you need to reset your password." I've reset it 5 or 6 times and no matter how many times i do it i keep getting the same message. 3 different customer service reps on the phone told me to try to wait 72 hours without attempting to login to allow their servers to refresh. So i tried that aswell and it also did not work whatsoever. What on earth is going on here? This is infuriating And literally nobody can help me. Ive spoken to like 4 different customer support agents who have all literally told me they have done everything they can and straight up dont know how to fix this. Like wtf are you kidding me?? I dont think ive ever had worse customer service before in my entire life. I had to make this new account just to post this.

I have changed my phone number, when ever I am trying to login it asks about security authentication and sending a text on my old number, which I dont have now. What should I do now to login.

Try:
1. Downloading the app to see if it will let you in to change / update it in the settings.
2. Log on via developer.paypal.com, go to paypal.com and change it in settings.
3. Use the forgotten password option several times.
4. Trying another browser that may let you in without phone verification (then change it when you have logged in).
5. Trying again another day when sometimes you can get in without doing the verification and then change the number.
6. Changing the password a few times sometimes works as it can bypass the phone verification.
7. Try clicking on P top of the forum page and see if you can log in via the forum.

If that does not work then you would need to contact customer services so that they can i.d. you another way and then add your new phone number to your account.


Contact options for Paypal are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages...

1. Paypal phones are slowly re-opening and increasing in numbers (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out.

4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?

Dear community 

I've changed my number and residential address. I cannot verify my account as it keeps sending authentication codes to an old number before I can even log in my account. WHAT DO I DO?????/....i urgently need to access some funds.

Hi I changed my email address as old one got hacked signed new one up to my PayPal , then changed my number after my mum died, PayPal is linked to the old one. Won’t let me sign into my PayPal at all.

I reset my phone the other day and redownloaded PayPal, and it won’t let me log in because I need to receive a text message but I’ve changed my phone number and it won’t let me into my account to change it, what do I do?
