Closing Account

Hi all, I want to close my account but it does not let me. I have no financial information linked to my account. 

How do i proceed to close my account if it does not let me even though I am not allowed to use PayPal anymore. I have gone against the guidelines apparently.

It looks like you're checking your bot once a week on sundays huh @kernowlass The funny thing is that you're proving my point in its full range, since the closing account recommendations from PayPal tells me to search the community posts for fixes or ask myself. You just proved you got no idea about that, which pretty much tells everyone that your bot is basically refreshing the community page once every 5 minutes and replying with the same standard language for every post. I have asked you politely to not reply to my post/thread but since you work for PayPal its understandable that you don't care at all about PayPal's customers. I did not insult or laugh at your previous posts, so I feel insulted that you do it on me, even more so after one full day which reinforces that you're using a bot just to get you kudos/thanks whatever useless point system this community has. Good luck gathering more kudos and thanks @kernowlass. I'm out of here as my buzz did grab attention and I did get contacted by someone that did help me. So long!

You were insulting in the first instance, (since removed), when all I did was post contact information for Paypal customer services to try and help you.

No I don't work for Paypal, employees on here have that by their name OR moderators. I work in healthcare thanks.

 

As I said if you want to help others then feel free to start posting. But I hope you don't get rude folks (like yourself) being insulting when someone is just trying to help you.

I will post when, where and however many times I want as it is NOT your thread. Others may see the thread and appreciate the information I posted on it.

 

Don't need kudos, got thousands already, I just put that information to encourage users to leave it for each other.

And I check posts daily (shifts dependent) not just on a Sunday, so you have not got a lot right so far have you.

Have fun with your attorney tomorrow. Now I am off to help ''nice and polite'' users before I go do my night shift.

same issue with me. can't close account. and no option to email paypal. so my account is just parked there even when i dont need it anymore

Paypal isn't letting me close my account either. Is there a help number to get my information deleted off this communist site?

I, too, can not close my account. Over twelve customer service reps (all based in Philippines) have failed to help- most have lied. Here are their lies. 1. Can not close your account because the system is upgrading. (Odd, everything is doable during this system upgrade except closing accounts) 2. You have pending charges. Wrong. I called them on it and asked for supervisor who confirmed there are no pending charges, he had no explanation for why his subordinate lied. 3. We can not close your account until you close your Venmo. I questioned this, at length, with no sensible answers. I immediately closed Venmo. Called back, they said they still couldn’t because my Venmo accounts were still open and have shadow accounts attached. I asked how and what made that possible. No answer. I phoned Venmo and confirmed date/time my account was closed and she said there never were shadow accounts attached to my account. She gave a ticket number to give to PayPal. 4. PayPal rejects the ticket number and says Venmo is lying. Are you all catching on? PayPal’s Board of Directors appointed a new CFO (last one lasted 45 days) who started implementing discriminatory actions against its customers. They must be held accountable.

Hello, my account is limited and I too am unable to close my account. Was there a letter your lawyer crafted that allowed you to move forward with your request with threats of litigation? I've written to corporate before and received a personalized response, but they were unable to overturn my limitation. I am not confident sending a request to close my account would result in anything other than a letter back saying they can not.

 

It seems reasonable that if a company is does not want to do business with you, you as the customer have the right to erase your account and over 20 years of account transaction history. Perhaps if PayPal Damon was around, things would be different. PayPal has really become overly corporate and impossible to reach to speak to a human at PayPal HQ.

I am ‘promised’ software engineering team specialist will call me bc they ‘escalated’ my ticket. Here’s my speculation. Seeing the class action lawsuit filed last week against PayPal in New Jersey (Bragal, Eagel & Squire) it’s become very clear PayPal has refused to close accounts in order to deceive investors- if they delete your account- they must also delete your account history- which they use fraudulently to create a false narrative about their worth. We haven’t even use that much on PayPal, but we did spend thousands on Venmo for wedding vendors- could it be PayPal is linking accounts (without our permission) to claim that volume -double dipping? Venmo affirmed my account was never linked to PayPal- if that’s the case- they could be doing it illegally.

Many corporations seem to use the metric of "registered" users to inflate their numbers. I was a big fan of PayPal in the early days, but its gotten really bizarre how First Amendment rights from the government is being conveniently bypassed via corporate terms of service.

Correct. In 2015, the principal/majority owners shifted. BlackRock/Vanguard/others are the biggest backers- BlackRock is steeped in global WEF mantras. Australia and Canada were highly successful in using financial institutions to force mandates- they are trying hard to enforce that here.

I am in the same thing as you, before yet it was simpler now very difficult, I would like to close my Paypal account, but I am told "an error has occurred, please contact customer service", my account is not restricted, my card I deleted it, my balance is at €0.00 and my transactions are in complete condition but I still can't delete my account. !!!!! Their service unable to reach them, it's unacceptable. in the "aid" I've seen people who have had the same problem as me for more than 1 year. Do not hesitate to put the reviews on Trustpilot to show that Paypal is bad.
