Can't update new phone number

Hello, I recently changed my mobile number but can't update it on paypal; it gives me the message "please check and try again." Our city got a new area code as of October 2022, could that be it?

Welcome! Thanks for visiting PayPal's Community. I'm sorry to hear you've run into some road-blocks updating your phone number. Have you tried clearing your browser's cache, cookies, and history yet? You may want to try updating your number in the mobile app as well. If that doesn't work, our Customer Support teams may be able to assist further.
