Can't remove or change work primary phone

UPDATE: Since no one was answering, I went to send a message via the automated assistant. It turns out the assistant was able to change my phone number for me.
On my account I have my mobile number (primary mobile number,) and work number (primary work number.) I need to change my primary work number. However, I'm getting a message that says a primary number can't be a VoIP line. This is strange, because the CURRENT work number is a VoIP line!
I'd like to have a secondary phone number on the account, but if this isn't possible (because my landlines are VoIP lines,) then I need to remove the work number. However, I don't see a way to remove that number, either.
