I have a question about a situation and want to do this right.
My volunteer organization has an EIN number as it's a 501(C)(3) non-profit. We have a business PayPal account linked to email address A.
Within our organization, we have an autonomous sub-committee that is part of our organization for legal purposes but doesn't report to our chain of command or leadership. It is a complex backstory as to how it got that way, but essentially they used to be independent, then some lawyers said they shouldn't be. For tax purposes, they fall under our EIN number though and in the past, all monies were handled via our treasurer for both the main organization and the autonomous sub-committee.
They are now in the process of getting their own checking account, and have asked about getting their own Paypal account as they would like more control over their finances.
Are they able to use our EIN number, but with a separate email address, or would they need their own EIN number?
