why has my personal account been turned into a business account without my permission?

I set up my account years ago as a personal account. I never thought any further about it until recently when transactions were suddenly being charged in GBP although I have nothing to do with the UK (that has been resolved!) but I then noticed that my account is now a business account - I dont know when this happened, no one asked me, no one informed me. There has been no suspicious activity and my account has not been hacked. Why did this happen?

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you've had recently with your account. It is possible that you or the members of your family should have upgraded the account business and must have forgotten about the same. Please note there is no option of auto-upgrade the account, only the user will have an option to upgrade the account manually. In order to downgrade your business account to a personal account, I would advise you to contact our customer care department who can help you further. You can do this by clicking on the contact at the bottom of every PayPal page to check what your contact options are. You can also contact us through Twitter direct message or Facebook instant message.
