I want to link my US bank, but can't link it

I want to link my American account to PayPal but when I go to Link a bank account, it wants a sort code and not a routing code. I was in the UK for a while so I set my account in the UK (now I'm in the US). I wanted to close my account so I can make a new one and make it based on the US but of course, PayPal won't let anyone close their account for god knows what reason. At least let me add my American bank.

Paypal is country specific so if you move countries you have to open another paypal account in the country you reside in and add an address / phone number / bank accounts / cards from within that country.

You should really withdraw any funds / resolve issues / remove cards and bank accounts / cancel any subscriptions and close the old Paypal account before you move countries. If you don't then you may have problems doing so once you have moved and may need to contact customer services for help to resolve things.

You can however add a U.S bank account (not card) to 'most' other countries paypal accounts. This is because paypal is a U.S company and so allows this.

SO contact customer services and ask them to assist you linking it? However you still may hit a problem if you are trying to link it to a U.K account and you are no longer in the U.K?

Contact options for each countries Paypal customer services are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages.

1. Paypal phones when available (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out.
Or
4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a personal message from their Facebook or Twitter pages.
It's: https://www.facebook.com/PayPal and @AskPayPal for Twitter.
