Changing your password shows that a period [.] is acceptable, but will not let me use a period [.].

I was wondering if this is a known issue or not. I have come up with a new password I would like to use for paypal that includes a period [.]. When I try to make the password, it says it is invalid, yet when suggesting symbols you can use, the period [.] is on the list. When I remove the period from my password, it works. Sort of frustrating.
