Wit...do I actually need a card to be verified? I always thought I did not...like I was under the impression that the purpose of a paypal account was to avoid cards? Interesting. And I am an author so should I change my account to a business one?

If you don't add a card to your paypal account how are you going to fund your payments?

Yes but how would you FUND your paypal payment to PAY for those purchases if you don't add a funding source ie card???
