Limited account due to being underage

I signed up for PayPal about a year ago, without realizing I wasn't allowed to because I am a minor. When my account became limited because of inactivity, I uploaded pictures of my ID to prove I was an actual person. While this was being processed, I stupidly assumed that all was well and tried to add money from my bank account. The money was taken from my account, but was never added to my PayPal wallet. It's quite a big sum, so is there any way for me to get it back? Can it still be added to my wallet or will it be returned to my account? Or do I have to wait until I turn 18 so my account won't be limited any more?

Thanks in advance.

As you have to put your date of birth to register a paypal account then of course you would know you can't have one until you are 18 as you would have had to change it to register an account.
