PayPal Invoice REST API causes errors in sandbox

Hi,
I'm having the following problem: I developed a tool that allows me to create/send/check PayPal Invoices using the PayPal REST API. It worked fine, I could see the created invoices in my seller's sandbox account on the "old style" list.
Today I tried again, created an invoice draft using the exact same code as before, but then in the backend, I get a) a new style list and b) a message that says "an error occurred, please reload the page and try again".
The thing is: When I delete that draft, everything is back to normal and I can see the old drafts. If I create a new one, I get the error again. The same thing is true for the "Unpaid" tab. I can not see any of the old invoices due to the above error and I can not delete the sent invoices anymore (cancelling them does not resolve the error).
Does anybody have an idea what changed that would cause such behavior?
