Maybe this is already been worked out, but as an independent book publisher that places niche´point-of-sale displays in unusual locations, as a horse evaluation book setting on the counter of a feed store, it would be oh so lovely if the electronic payment if the standard 40% of the retail price could go into merchants "cash drawer" and the other would go to the publisher direct to pay the printer, and a whole lot of people who helped with the production... and then somehow the lowly author's royalty might even get paid, someday if the creator hasn't starved to death waiting for any ROI encouragement to do it all over again. My experiences as a self publisher led to the forming of BannerBooks.com on 1/1/2000. And today I have been helping turning in an "indie" project into a Limited Cooperative Association with a Book-In-A-Box Point-of-Sale display system that also would include a physical flash drive option, instead of dangerous downloading. If somehow the barcode/ QR code would act as a just-in-time inventory replacement notification system, I would like to offer struggling small vendors a consignment on a 50% split.
