I am a little annoyed to find out that the SELLER is responsible for insurance on all items in order to keep their butt covered. I was under the impression that if the buyer did not purchase insurance on the item then he would have to take it up with the carrier. Why should a seller be responsible for this?

Buyers are normally responsible for insurance. It's an option, unless otherwise agreed upon between you and t he seller. We been in the online business since 1999 and have not seen a another seller provide shipping insurance unless they specifically state that they do in their shipping policy. For example, we offer both shipping insurance and signature conformation as option you can purchase.
Regard,
skier
